Weiser and Payton named to interim positions at OSU

Oklahoma State University has announced the appointments of Dr. Mark Weiser as interim
                     associate vice president for international studies and outreach and Dr. Mark Payton
                     as interim dean of the graduate college. 
 Weiser previously served as associate dean and professor of management information
                     systems in the Spears School of Business. Payton served as associate dean of the OSU
                     Graduate College and is a professor of statistics.   
 “I am confident that Dr. Weiser and Dr. Payton have the background and expertise
                     to successfully guide these important academic areas during a transitional period,”
                     said OSU Provost Marlene Strathe. 
 Weiser, who chaired the Provost’s Task Force on International Education and Outreach
                     in 2009, has served as director for the Center for Telecommunications and Network
                     Security at OSU since 2003. He graduated with a Ph.D. from the University of Iowa
                     in 1995, majoring in management information systems with a minor in computer science
                     and networking. He earned a bachelor’s degree in management information systems from
                     Pennsylvania State University in 1990.  
 Payton, a former president of the Oklahoma chapter of the American Statistical Association,
                     has served as associate dean of the OSU Graduate College since 2006. He received a
                     master’s degree and Ph.D. in statistics from OSU in 1988 and 1991, and a bachelor’s
                     in mathematics education from Southwest Missouri State University in 1986.
