Which research award did you receive?
The Freshman Research Scholars scholarship last year, and this year I am an
Animal Science Undergraduate Research Scholar.
How did you hear about the program?
I first heard about the FRS when I moved into my dorm last year. I was talking to a girl on my floor,
who had been a FRS member the year before. She mentioned it and I asked her how I could take
part and she pointed me in the right direction. I found out about the Animal Science
Undergraduate Research Scholars kind of the same way. My mentor for FRS, Dr. Daniel Stein,
is over the Animal Science Undergraduate Research Scholars and he told me that I should fill out the application for this year.
How important has this been to your college experience?
I cannot put enough very’s in front of the word important to try and relay just how important
my involvement in the Freshmen Research Scholars program was last year. Because of my involvement in FRS,
I am getting to go to the National Conference on Undergraduate Research in Utah at the end of March.
What have you gained from this research experience?
I have gained knowledge in formal research, and confidence in areas that range from public speaking to writing papers.
