Bill Path named new president at OSU Institute of Technology

“We are delighted to have Bill Path join the OSU leadership team,” said OSU President Burns Hargis. “Under his guidance, Northeast Community College expanded facilities and curriculum, enhanced student services and strengthened community outreach. His experiences and leadership will help OSU Institute of Technology continue its important mission.”
Hargis said, “I also want to commend the OSUIT team for its outstanding work during this time of transition. I want to say a special thanks to David Bosserman for his leadership and the work he did in strengthening industry partnerships as interim president.”
“We could not be happier with the hiring of Bill Path,” said Fred Harlan, Okmulgee businessman and head of the search committee. “OSUIT is a vital member of the OSU system and we are confident Dr. Path will build on the strong industry partnerships already in place to continue to make OSUIT a leader in providing students the technical skills they need to excel across many industries.”
Path said, “When I look at OSU Institute of Technology I see a remarkable institution with a proud heritage for quality instruction in high-end and emerging technologies. I see an institution with a singular focus and mission like that of no other college or university in the country. I see amazing potential at OSUIT and feel deeply privileged to have been invited to serve as its next president.”
Bosserman, who was named interim president at OSUIT last December, said, “I am thrilled that Dr. Path has been selected for the presidency at OSUIT. His vision and enthusiasm for taking OSUIT to the next level is exciting. Coupling him with the capabilities of the OSUIT faculty and staff can’t help but create a perfect environment for our students, the campus and the city of Okmulgee.”
Path guided Northeast Community College, located in Norfolk, Neb., for 10 years as president. He also served as vice president of student services for four years at the school from 1996 to 2000. In between, he spent a year as vice president for academic and student affairs at Aims Community College in Greeley, Colo., from 2000 to 2001.
“When I think of Bill Path, I think of his great vision,” said Van Phillips, chairman of the Northeast Community College Board of Governors. “He has always been a forward thinker and thinks of students for generations to come in all his plans. Northeast is a better place because he served here.”
Don Oelsligle, chairman of the Northeast Community College Board of Governors Human Resources committee, said Path “has taken Northeast Community College to the next level of excellence. We will bid him good-bye with our very best wishes for great success as he goes to Oklahoma.”
Path also held positions at NorthWest Arkansas Community College in Bentonville, Ark.; Kingwood College in Kingwood, Tex.; and North Harris County College in Houston.
He earned his undergraduate degree at Harding University, his Master’s in educational psychology at Texas A&M University, and his Ed.D. in higher education administration at the University of Arkansas.
