Chinese delegation announces exchange scholarships
A visiting delegation from one of China’s leading research universities recently announced new scholarships for OSU students to study there next summer. The announcement follows a trip by OSU President Burns Hargis to Fudan University in Shanghai last June to establish a formal partnership.
A six member delegation, led by Fudan’s Vice President Limin Chen, discussed furthering student and staff exchange during its visit last week. Fudan officials want to enhance their school's student affairs division and are especially interested in OSU because of its strength in student affairs.
Since 2009, Fudan has sent more than 18 senior student affairs administrators to the OSU International Symposium on Student Affairs each summer. In 2010, it also invited Dr. Lee Bird and Dr. Pam Ehlers to conduct seminars on the American student affairs and career service models.
While in Stillwater, The Fudan delegation visited and toured several OSU facilities, including Career Services, Residential Life, the Colvin Recreation Center, and the Edmon Low library. They also held discussions with leaders at the Honors College, the Graduate College and the Spears School of Business.
President Hargis and first lady Ann Hargis officially welcomed the delegation and expressed their pleasure to have this exchange program established to provide greater study abroad opportunities for OSU students in China.
