The feature film “Cowgirls N’ Angels,” is scheduled to film in and around Stillwater through the rest of this month. Scenes will include stars James Cromwell (The Queen, The Green Mile, Babe), Bailee Madison (Bridges to Terabithia, Brothers, Just Go With It, "Wizards of Waverly Place"), Kathleen Rose Perkins ("Episodes", "'Til Death") and world-famous trick rider Haley Ganzel. Several OSU alumni and students are participating in various ways. Ty Dickson is on the production staff and Madison Freeman is the head wrangler for the production. Members of the OSU Rodeo team will be serving as featured extras and stunt men and women, and a portion of the movie will be filmed at the OSU Rodeo Arena.
The OSU family and the public will have an opportunity to participate on May 19 and May 21. Thursday, May 19, the movie company will be filming a staged rodeo in the evening and they need people to help fill the stands of the Payne County Expo Center (located at 4518 Expo Circle East in Stillwater, OK). They ask that those who wish to fill the stands arrive by 5 p.m. and be dressed as if you were attending a regular rodeo. Extras will also be needed this Saturday, May 21, from 4:00-8:00 pm at the Pawnee Lakeside Arena, located 2 miles north of the main intersection in Pawnee, next to the airport and golf course. Anyone and everyone is invited to attend to play spectators. While pay is not available for the large crowd scenes, the filmmakers have promised fun days on the set, filled with giveaways and raffles of prizes and merchandise.
"Cowgirls N' Angels" is a heartwarming family movie that tells the story of Ida (Madison),a feisty and rebellious young girl, who has fantasies of finding her father, a rodeo rider who left the family some years back. While searching for her dad, she connects with the Sweethearts of the Rodeo, a team of young female rodeo riders run by former rodeo star Terence Parker (Cromwell). Recognizing Ida's innate talent for trick riding, Terence recruits her for their ranks. Accepted wholeheartedly by her new "family," Ida finds a new passion that redefines her life -- and she also may find the father she's been searching for. The Hollywood-based film is produced by Ben Feingold. Timothy Armstrong is directing the film he co-wrote with Stephen Blinn.
