FEMA administrator to speak on community involvement

Timothy W. Manning, deputy administrator for National Preparedness and Response with the Federal Emergency management Agency, will speak on “National Preparedness and Response Initiatives—Engaging the Community” on Tuesday, Feb. 8, from 7 – 8 p.m. in Click Hall at the Conoco-Phillips Alumni Center in Stillwater.
Responsible for preparing the nation to protect against, prevent, respond to, and recover from acts of terrorism and natural disasters, Manning oversees the agency’s preparedness initiatives including national training, education, exercises, assessment, and community preparedness programs.
Prior to joining FEMA, Manning served as the secretary of Homeland Security and Emergency Management for the state of New Mexico and as an Adviser to Governor Bill Richardson. Manning earned a Bachelor of Science in Geology from Eastern Illinois University and is a graduate of the Executive Leaders Program at the Center for Homeland Defense and Security at the Naval Postgraduate School.
