Flying Aggies advance to national competition

Oklahoma State University senior Hannah Schlesinger, a professional pilot major from
Edmond, earned top scoring female contestant honors at a regional flying competition
held in Omaha, Neb., Oct. 16 - 22. Schlesinger’s performance and competitive scores
from other team members qualified the OSU Flying Aggie Flight Team to compete at a
national competition (NIFA SAFECON) set for May 2012 in Salina, Kan.
The OSU team placed fourth place in the overall regional rankings and third place
in the school flight events rankings at the competition, which included more than
90 contestants from eight colleges.
“Our team had a great week in Omaha during flight competition. Every member persisted
and performed very well. I am extremely proud of them,” said Steven Roberts, OSU Flying
Aggie Flight Team adviser and assistant chief flight instructor.
OSU team members and pro pilot majors Max Ringo and Ben Wilson also finished high
in the regional competition. Ringo, a senior from Cordell, placed third overall for
the top pilot award, and Wilson, a senior from Coppell, Texas, placed third overall
in the top scoring male contestant category.
Additional Flying Aggies who helped their team qualify for the national contest include
seniors and pro pilot majors Jake Akin, Fredericksburg, Texas; Jared Jacobs, San Antonio,
Texas; Ryan Lawler, Broken Arrow; Jay Maldonado, Venus, Texas; Michael Parisi, Flower
Mound, Texas; and Taylor Wilson, Tulsa.
