Governor Fallin announces two appointments to OSU/A&M Board of Regents
Wednesday, April 13, 2011
Governor Mary Fallin today announced she will appoint Ricky Joe Davis to the Board of Regents for the Oklahoma Agricultural and Mechanical Colleges (OSU/A&M). Davis, a resident of Guthrie, will replace Regent Fred Boettcher of Ponca City, who is resigning effective May 1. Davis will be serving out the remainder of Boettcher’s unexpired term. His appointment is effective May 2, 2011 and expires April 4, 2016. This appointment requires Senate confirmation.
“Continuing to raise the bar for our educational institutions is one of the most important things we can do to ensure the long term prosperity and economic growth of our state,” said Fallin. “Rick received his degree in Agricultural Economics from OSU and then pursued a successful career in agriculture, which is exactly the kind of tradition we are continuing to build on at our colleges and universities. I know he’ll do everything he can to continue to raise the bar in education and pave the way for the success of future generations of college graduates.”
Davis has served as the managing general partner for Davis Farms since 1983. Davis Farms is a 5500 acre wheat, beef and dairy operation in Logan County. He has also served as the general partner at Dimmitt Farms, a hay production business, since 2006.
“I was born to a farming family and have devoted my adult life to a career in agriculture,” said Davis. My time at OSU and my work as a farmer have given me a great appreciation for the unique partnership between our universities and colleges and the agricultural industry. I think that will be a valuable perspective for me to take onto the board and I thank Governor Mary Fallin for the opportunity to serve.”
Davis has formerly served as president of the Guthrie Public Schools Board of Education, president of the Guthrie United Way Board of Directors, president of the Logan County OSU Alumni Association, and president of the Oklahoma FFA Association.
Davis attended Guthrie High School before graduating from OSU with a BS in agricultural economics. He and his wife Pam Simon Davis have two children.
Governor Mary Fallin reappoints Joe Hall to OSU/A&M Board of Regents
Governor Mary Fallin today announced she will reappoint Joe
Hall to the Oklahoma Agricultural and Mechanical Colleges (OSU/A&M) Board of Regents.
Hall resides in Elk City and is the owner of 4GH Ranch, a land and cattle operation,
Joe D. Hall General Contractors, a construction firm, and is the chairman of InterBank.
Hall was first appointed in 2003 by Governor Brad Henry.
“I am delighted Governor Fallin has nominated me for a new term on the OSU/A&M Board of Regents. I share her commitment to improve education at all levels and believe our colleges will become even more vital to the state’s economic success. I have come to appreciate each of the five colleges and universities governed by this board and the key part they can play in supplying Oklahoma with a capable and competent workforce. As a person who grew up and built a business in rural Oklahoma, I have great respect for the land grant mission and for the contributions these colleges make to the quality of life in every part of our state,” Hall said.
Hall and his wife, Vickie, graduated from OSU in 1983; his degree is in Civil Engineering. They have two daughters who attend OSU.
