Greek week supports local philanthropy

Oklahoma State University’s fraternity and sorority community had fun while collecting materials for the Stillwater Domestic Violence Center during their Greek Week events.
All proceeds from the week went to the Stillwater Domestic Violence Center. Each day was a different event that helped gather donations.
“We chose a local philanthropy because we wanted the chance to give back to the Stillwater community because they provide so much help and support for OSU,” said Hayley Wolfe, Panhellenic Secretary.
The Greek God and Goddess Pageant was held on Tuesday evening; the winners were crowned based on their talent and interview. During the competition donations were taken as part of the voting process, raising more than $1,000. On Wednesday the community gathered on Library Lawn to build the best can castles they could; this one event resulted in the collection of more than 4,700 cans. Throughout the week each chapter collected shampoo, conditioner and other hygiene products and together collected more than 1,000 items.
"It always brings a happy feeling when you see a whole community come together to work for a greater cause!" said Kelvin Pollard, Interfraternity Council Secretary.
Oklahoma State University’s Greek organizations work hard to maintain academic success, foster leadership among members and give back through philanthropy and service.
