Mock room burn emphasizes fire safety
Friday, December 2, 2011
The Oklahoma State University Student Association of Fire Investigators and the Residence Hall Association will be conducting a mock room fire to promote awareness of fire safety in the residence halls. The event will occur on Monday, December 5, 2011 at 5 pm in front of Kerr Hall.
“The purpose of the program is to demonstrate the risks associated with items that can create a fire hazard in the halls such as candles, hot plates, and toasters,” explains Dr. Matthew Brown, Director of Housing and Residential Life. “The mock room that will be burned is constructed to match the room dimensions in the traditional residence halls.”
Campus residents, students, and the community are invited to attend and learn more about the importance of fire safety on campus. Special thanks to Environmental Health and Safety, Parking Services and Housing and Residential Life staff for assisting with this program.
