OSU Homecoming approaching
Friday, September 30, 2011
No other university in the nation has a Homecoming as unique as Oklahoma State University’s, and it’s now less than a month away.
This OSU event, presented by the OSU Alumni Association since 1920, is nationally recognized as “America’s Greatest Homecoming Celebration”. The one week tradition returns more than 75,000 alumni and friends to Stillwater each year.
Homecoming has exciting events for both students and alumni in the week leading up to the football game. These include the three-day Football Frenzy contest, Residential Life Bash, Harvest Carnival and Chili Cook-Off, and Hester Street Painting.
The Friday of Homecoming is Walkaround. Tens of thousands of orange-clad family and friends will pack the streets surrounding campus to view the amazing Greek house decorations, orange-glowing residence halls and parade floats lining Monroe Street. Walkaround begins at 5:30 p.m. Friday, October 28.
After Walkaround, everyone is invited to pack Gallagher-Iba Arena for Homecoming & Hoops, which combines the Homecoming pep rally and awards announcements with exciting previews of Cowboy and Cowgirl Basketball.
Homecoming game day begins with the Sea of Orange Parade on Main Street. Former Cowboy Basketball player Desmond Mason is this year’s Grand Marshal, and he will be leading the nearly mile long parade of bands, floats and other unique entries.
Homecoming 2011 apparel is now available at the University Store in the Student Union.
