The fifth annual meeting of the Oklahoma Network for the Teaching of Psychology is
from 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 23, on the Oklahoma State University
campus in Stillwater.
Each year approximately 75,000 students in the United States graduate with a degree
in psychology, said conference director Shelia Kennison, an associate psychology professor
at OSU. “At OSU, psychology is one of our most popular majors so the aim of the conference
is to bring together individuals who are involved in teaching psychology at all educational
levels. This is a unique conference nationally.”
Keynote speakers are professors Susan Fiske, of Princeton University; Joe Rodgers,
University of Oklahoma; David Thomas, OSU; and William Buskist, Auburn University.
“The conference is important to the state of Oklahoma because it is the only professional
development forum where all the teachers of psychology in our state can learn best
practices in teaching psychology and hear from the nation’s most influential researchers,”
said Kennison.
The conference is open to the public. Registration is $25 for students and $35 for
faculty, administrators and the public. Lunch is at Willard Hall. For more information,
e-mail shelia.kennison@okstate.edu, phone (405) 744-7335 or visit http://psychology.okstate.edu/faculty/kennison/ontop.htm.
Conference support is provided by the American Psychological Association and the OSU
Department of Psychology, which is one of 24 departments in the College of Arts and
Sciences at OSU.
