OSU Spears School of Business will host Economic Outlook Conference in December
Tuesday, November 15, 2011
Using the state’s only large-scale econometric forecasting model, Oklahoma State University
will present the view for 2012 during its economic outlook conference on Dec. 13.
The Center for Applied Economic Research in the OSU Spears School of Business will
hold its 2012 Oklahoma Economic Outlook on Dec. 13 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Metro
Tech Centers-Springlake Campus in Oklahoma City. The conference is co-hosted by the
State Department of Career Technology.
The Oklahoma State Econometric Model is used to compile the report, which provides
information on the probable performance of the Oklahoma economy in the upcoming year.
The model is in its 32nd year.
Featured speakers will be Dan Rickman, OSU regents professor of economics and Oklahoma
Gas & Electric Services Chair in Regional Economic Analysis; Mouhcine Guettabi, OSU
research economist; Deidre Myers, director of research and economic analysis at the
Oklahoma Department of Commerce, and Chad Wilkerson, vice president, branch executive
and economist at the Oklahoma City branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City.
Also presenting will be Cynthia Rogers, University of Oklahoma associate professor
of economics, and Mickey Hepner, dean of the college of business administration at
the University of Central Oklahoma.
“The U.S. economy has struggled to regain its footing following the official end
of the Great Recession, while the Oklahoma economy has rebounded somewhat more robustly,”
Rickman said. “Will the U.S. economy falter as Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke
warned is possible? Or will the U.S. economy prove its resiliency and avoid falling
back into recession as predicted by Warren Buffett? How will the Oklahoma economy
be affected? These questions and more will be addressed during the 2012 Economic Outlook
Conference.”
Registration for the Economic Outlook Conference is $65 per person. A group discount
fee of $50 is available for three or more people in the same company.
