OSU Theatre presents “Noises Off”

OSU Theatre will present “Noises Off” through Nov. 20 in the Vivia Locke Theatre at the Seretean Center for the Performing Arts. The comedy takes a look at theatre folk, whose out of control egos, memory loss and passionate affairs turn every performance into a high-risk adventure. For more details, read below.

Noises Off opens Nov. 16 at 7:30 p.m. and runs Nov. 17, 18 and 19 at 7:30 p.m. and Nov. 19 and 20 at 2:30 p.m. in the Vivia Locke Theatre at the Seretean Center for the Performing Arts.

The comedy is directed by OSU professor Peter Westerhoff and features guest artist and Broadway actress Jodi Jinks, AEA.Made famous by the 1992 film adaptation, the play looks into the lives of actors as they attempt to keep their backstage lives from invading their onstage performances.

NOISES OFF takes a fond look at the follies of theatre folk, whose susceptibility to out-of-control egos, memory loss and passionate affairs turn every performance into a high-risk adventure. This comedy-within-a-comedy captures a touring theatre troupe's repeated productions of Nothing On, each performance portrayed from behind the scenes, progressing from flubbed lines and missed cues in the dress rehearsal to mounting friction between cast members in the final performance. Brimming with slapstick comedy, Noises Off is a backstage farce of slamming doors, falling trousers and flying sardines.

Show times: November 16 - 19 at 7:30 p.m. and matinees November 19, 20 at 2:30 p.m. The Friday November 16th show will be signed by an interpreter for the deaf and hearing impaired. Tickets are $12 for general audiences and $10 for senior and OSU students. Tickets may be purchased at the door or by phone (405) 744-6094.
