Oklahoma State University professor Dursun Delen was recently selected to serve on the advisory board for the Teradata University Network, the premier academic alliance for business intelligence education.
TDUN is a web-based portal currently serving nearly 2,000 faculty members from more than 1,000 universities in 75 countries. The advisory board is the consortium’s governing body, and it contains a blend of academic experts and business leaders. The board’s activities include but are not limited to 1) writing and publishing cases, tutorials, position papers and other teaching materials, 2) reaching out to companies and organizations to become a part of TDUN, and 3)advertising the resources available through TDUN to the rest of the world.
“I have been using TDUN ever since it was founded,” said Delen, an associate professor of management science and information systems at OSU’s Spears School of Business. “It has the latest and greatest material for teaching business intelligence, decision support systems and data warehousing, and the best part is that it is all free for educational institutions. Being a part of and now contributing to this worthy consortium is an honor for me.”
Delen said each new member is selected by the executive directors and the senior advisory board members. He said the board identifies individuals with the greatest potential to contribute to TDUN, and it assesses and then votes on each candidate. Currently, the advisory board includes just 20 experts.
