"I am excited about this opportunity and eager to start working with the outstanding team in the OSU Center for Veterinary Health Sciences (CVHS)." Sander said. "I felt right at home during my visits and look forward to using my skills to make a difference at Oklahoma State and in the veterinary profession."
"Dr. Sander is a wonderful choice to lead the Center for Veterinary Health Sciences and carry on the exceptional research, outreach and instruction that the college and hospital is recognized for around the world," said OSU President Burn Hargis.
Sander comes to OSU from Ohio State University where she is the Associate Dean for Academic and Student Affairs and Professor at the College of Veterinary Medicine and Department of Veterinary Preventive Medicine.
She earned her bachelor's degree from Elmhurst College, Elmhurst, Ill., and received her D.V.M. from the University of Wisconsin in Madison. Prior to Ohio State, Sander was a professor at the University of Georgia where she received a Masters of Avian Medicine.
In addition to her position as dean, Sander also will serve as a professor of pathology. She plans to arrive on campus August 1.
OSU's Center for Veterinary Health Sciences includes the College of Veterinary Medicine, the Oklahoma Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory, and the Boren Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital.
The search for a new CVHS dean began following the announcement of the retirement of Dr. Michael D. Lorenz last October. Lorenz has served as dean since 2004.
