Dr. Craig Satterfield, assistant dean of the Graduate College at Oklahoma State University, has been selected to participate in the 2011 Fulbright Seminar for U.S. Administrators in International Education, set for Oct. 16 - 30 in Germany. The seminar starts with a week in Berlin and includes visits to universities in Mainz, Strasbourg and Frankfurt.
The International Education Administrators program introduces higher-education professionals from the U.S. to the German academic infrastructure and culture to serve and encourage international students and prospective study-abroad students.
“I’m excited to have been chosen for this opportunity to see firsthand the German educational system, especially to observe German institutions’ student recruiting and retention strategies,” said Satterfield. “I’m also hopeful that the contacts I make there will lend themselves to additional exchanges of ideas, faculty and students with OSU.”
Fulbright is the most widely recognized and prestigious international exchange program in the world, supported for more than half a century by the American people through an annual appropriation from the U.S. Congress and by the people of partner nations. The program actively seeks out individuals of achievement and potential who represent the full diversity of their respective societies. Nominees are selected through open, merit-based competitions in universities, schools, bi-national Fulbright commissions, government agencies, nongovernmental organizations and the private sector.
