 Botany professors leading national organization

Drs. Linda Watson and Mark Fishbein, professors in the Botany Department at OSU, are currently serving as officers of the American Society of Plant Taxonomists.

Watson was treasurer for five years before being elected president. Fishbein was an elected council member for three years before being appointed secretary.

SPT is a national organization of more than 1,400 members including international colleagues (www.aspt.net). The society is organized to promote research and education in the fields of plant taxonomy and systematics. It publishes a quarterly journal, Systematic Botany, which is ranked in the top 100 journals in biology and medicine; and it publishes the Systematic Botany Monograph series.
