Campus Life moves into Student Union
Monday, January 9, 2012
Many Campus Life offices are now located on the second floor of the Student Union. The newly renovated Campus Life area reflects years of planning by student leaders and administration and allows for greater interaction among organizations, which will lead to collaboration between groups to better serve students.
"The Campus Life programs provide students with quality services and opportunities for success," said Mitch Kilcrease, Student Union director and assistant vice president of student affairs. "I am proud of the new space and of the student involvement that went into creating it. The unique area is designed to encourage students to become engaged with these organizations during their time on campus."
Offices that can now be found in the Student Union are: Campus Life Administration, Office of Parent and Family Relations, Service Learning Volunteer Center, Non-Traditional Student Association, Off Campus Student Association, Fraternity and Sorority Affairs, Student Government Association and the Graduate and Professional Student Government Association.
Several departments will remain in the Classroom Building until further renovations are completed. These offices include: Student Union Activities Board, Allied Arts, Leadership Development, International Students and Scholars, Study Abroad and the Office of Multicultural Affairs. The Office of Student Conduct also recently relocated to room 024 in the Classroom Building.
The official exterior groundbreaking for the Student Union Renovation Project took place in January 2010. The $63 million dollar project brings many upgrades to an already iconic building, including improved retail and dining spaces as well as a more visible Campus Life area.
