Clean Energy donates new ADA-compliant, dedicated natural gas vehicle for special transport needs

Michelle Floyd, a student from Oklahoma State University, demonstrates how the new ADA-compliant vehicle, donated by Clean Energy, helps her get to and from school and around the city of Stillwater.

Thanks to Clean Energy, Oklahoma State University now has a handicap-accessible vehicle built specifically to transport passengers with disabilities. The new MV-1, donated by Clean Energy, seats up to two mobility devices as well as three passengers.

"We owe Clean Energy a huge thanks for this generous gift, which allows us to be more responsive to our customers' diverse needs by increasing our versatility," said Steve Spradling, director of parking and transit services. "The MV-1 also helps make OSU Transit an even more sustainable system."

Andrew J. Littlefair, CEO of Clean Energy said, "We are pleased to support the needs of disabled students and passengers at OSU, alma mater of our co-founder Boone Pickens, with this advanced, disability vehicle fueled by natural gas, an American resource. This is the first purpose-built, ADA-compliant vehicle made in America and is given in recognition of OSU's leadership in natural gas technology and for its commitment by running a large number of natural gas vehicles in the university's fleet."

The vehicle, which came complete with OSU's paint scheme and decals, runs on environmentally friendly compressed natural gas for a fuel-efficient driving range of 250 miles per fill-up.

The vehicle will be put immediately into service and will be used primarily to transport passengers with special needs on the OSU campus and in the city of Stillwater.
