The Oklahoma State University Parents Association awarded ten $1,000.00 scholarships to OSU students on September 15. The recipients received their awards during the Fall Family Weekend, which is an OSU Parent Association sponsored event. These annual scholarships are awarded to students based on academic achievement, involvement in university organizations, leadership experiences and community service.
Winners of the $1,000.00 scholarships are: Alex Batchelor-Strohm, Broken Arrow, OK; Kelsey Duepner, San Antonio, TX; Tim Hardick, Choctaw, OK; Nichelle Huber, Keller, TX; Luke Marolf, Broken Arrow, OK; Kenzie Norrell, Mansfield, TX; Nick Prather, Jersey Village, TX; Madison Rogers, Calera, OK; Madison Walterscheid, Amarillo, TX; Devin Warren, Madill, OK.
The Parents Association poses as a liaison between parents and the university. Any parent of an Oklahoma State student can join the Parents Association. Dues cost $35 for a year or a lifetime membership can be purchased for $105. This money goes directly back to students through Parent Association events like Family Weekends, student safety programs and scholarships. The Parents Association relies solely on membership dues and donations to fund programs and annual scholarships.
"This organization is great because the parents of our students can see their donations directly helping students on an annual basis," said Fran Gregg, Director of Parent and Family Relations. "We are putting this money right back into the students' hands."
