Creative entries invited, music festival planned
Students in OSU's School of Media & Strategic Communications are inviting students in all majors to submit creative entries for an annual awards competition by Wednesday, Feb. 8, while also unveiling plans to make the awards event, set for Feb. 24, a music festival that features groups from across the state.
"This year, the Creative Lightning Awards (CLA) are turning it up a notch by including more categories of competition and incorporating a concert into the awards show," said Michael Bohanan, creative director.A diverse group of entertainers are scheduled to perform including Jaybee, Eric Himan, Deer People, Redland, Kellee Cooper and Musical Genius. Comedian Zane Larue will host for the event, which will also honor students for their achievements in advertising and communication.
"I'm especially excited about this year's CLA Festival since it will be the first to open the competition to students outside of Oklahoma," said CLA awards chair Tori Forrest. Students from Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansas and Louisiana are being invited to submit entries by Feb. 8. For specifics on entering the competition, click here or go to http://www.osuadclub.com/cla.html.
OSU's Ad Club is partnering with the Student Union Activities Board and PRSSA to bring the music festival to campus. Local businesses are helping sponsor the event including Stillocal.com, Kicker and Holiday Inn & Suites.
The festival is open to the public and students. Tickets are $3 for students and $5 for non-students and available online at http://www.osuadclub.com/cla-music-festival.html or at the door of the event.
