Danilowicz approved as dean of OSU College of Arts and Sciences

“We are pleased to welcome Dr. Danilowicz to the OSU team and look forward to his
vision and leadership in our largest and most diverse college,” said OSU Provost Bob
Sternberg. “He brings a stellar academic record and a strong passion for engaging
students and helping them achieve success.”
Danilowicz currently serves as dean of the Allen E. Paulson College of Science and
Technology and professor of biology at Georgia Southern University.
“I am delighted to join Oklahoma State as the dean of the College of Arts and Sciences
where the faculty and staff are dedicated to addressing the challenges of student
access and success, which are integral parts of the university’s land-grant mission,”
Danilowicz said. “The breadth of scholarship and creative activities of the college’s
faculty is remarkable and it is encouraging to see students partner with faculty on
projects.”
Danilowicz says the college is rich in history and he also looks forward to learning
about the experiences of its alumni and supporters. “I find it rewarding to connect
alumni, faculty and students to further the reach of the college’s teaching, research
and extension services,” he said.
Under his leadership, Georgia Southern was ranked as one of the best colleges in
the nation for minority students in science, technology, engineering and mathematics
programs – STEM – by Forbes magazine.
Danilowicz created the Center for Sustainability at Georgia Southern, which was nationally
ranked as one of the country’s greenest colleges by The Princeton Review.
He is the recipient of more than $10 million in grant and contract funding as a principal
or co-principal investigator on research projects from sources including the National
Science Foundation, European Union and the World Bank Group.
He received his doctorate in zoology with a statistics minor from Duke University,
and a master of arts in education in leadership and management from The Open University
in the United Kingdom. In May, he earned a master of business administration from
Georgia Southern University.
Joining him in Stillwater will be his wife, Kay, and their four children.
