Oklahoma Center for Poets and Writers to host legendary author Pat Conroy
The Oklahoma Center for Poets and Writers at Oklahoma State University – Tulsa, in partnership with Tulsa Town Hall, will host best-selling author Pat Conroy for a special event on Thursday, Sept. 20 at 7 p.m. in the OSU-Tulsa Auditorium.
“Up Close and Personal – An Evening with Pat Conroy” will feature a question and answer session between Conroy and some of Oklahoma’s most famous writers.
“This unique format will allow the audience to get special insight into Pat Conroy’s works from the viewpoint of other authors,” said Teresa Miller, executive director of the Oklahoma Center for Poets and Writers. “It will be interesting to see the interaction and hear the questions they present.”
Conroy is the author of best-selling novels “The Great Santini,” “Beach Music” and “The Prince of Tides,” which was adapted into a motion picture of the same name starring Barbara Streisand and Nick Nolte.
Some of the authors who will be taking part in the event include Rilla Askew, Billie Letts, P. C. Cast, Hannibal Johnson, Carolyn Hart, Will Thomas, John Wooley, Michael Wallis, James Watts, Connie Cronley, Mary Ann Hille, Will Thomas, and Clifton Taulbert.
Sallie Ann Robinson, one of Conroy’s former students who was characterized in his novel “The Water is Wide, will be a featured guest during the event.
Tulsa Reads is a citywide reading initiative sponsored by the Tulsa City-County Library System, Tulsa Town Hall, the Tulsa World and the Oklahoma Center for Poets and Writers at OSU-Tulsa.
