Free public lecture to address masculinity in the U.S.

Sociologist Michael Kimmel will discuss "Guyland: The Perilous World Where Boys Become Men" at 3:30 p.m. on Nov. 14 at Oklahoma State University.
The lecture is in Murray Hall Room 035 and is free and open to the public.
"Dr. Kimmel is a renowned expert on men and masculinity, and it is a privilege to have him come speak at Oklahoma State," associate sociology professor Beth Caniglia said.
Kimmel, a Distinguished Professor at the State University of New York, is the author or editor of more than 20 volumes. Kimmel's newest work is Guyland: The Periolous World Where Boys Become Men, which is based on more than 400 interviews over a four-year span with young men, ages 16–26.
Other books include Changing Men: New Directions in Research on Men and Masculinity, Men Confront Pornography, The Politics of Manhood, The Gender of Desire and The History of Men.
His documentary history, Against the Tide: Pro-Feminist Men in the United States, 1776-1990, chronicled men who supported women's equality since the founding of the country.
