Free pre-release screening of “High Ground” at OSU
See the free pre-release screening of the new film “High Ground” on Wednesday, Oct. 17, at 7:30 p.m. in the Student Union Theater at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the film begins at 7:30. Parking is free in the Student Union garage for those who attend.
The documentary is about eleven veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan who join an expedition to climb the 20,000 foot Himalayan giant Mount Lobuche. With blind adventurer Erik Weihenmayer and a team of Everest summiters as their guides, they set out on an emotional and gripping climb to reach the top in an attempt to heal the emotional and physical wounds of the longest war in U.S. history.
Representing nearly every branch of the military, the veterans, and the Gold Star
Mom who joins their trek, bring humor and deep emotion to this hero’s journey, all
captured with breathtaking, vertigo-inducing cinematography by three-time Emmy winner,
director Michael Brown.
Brown himself will be on the Stillwater campus and will participate in a question-and-answer session after the screening. Also, a veteran featured in the film, Master-at-Arms 2nd Class Nicolette “Nico” Maroulis, will also be present. The screening of “High Ground” is a way of honoring local veterans and raising awareness of support opportunities. The OSU Student Union has made it possible for film goers to attend for free.
