The Oklahoma State University Greek community's philanthropic efforts were exceptional in 2011, when more than $200,000 was raised by the Panhellenic and the Interfraternity Council to benefit several different charitable organizations.

The sorority chapters raised a total of $120,567.88 and the fraternity chapters raised $99,059. Some of the charitable causes the OSU Greek community was able to support included the American Red Cross, Habitat for Humanity, Stillwater's Women's Shelter and more than 30 additional charities on the local and national level.

The top Panhellenic fundraising chapters were Chi Omega and Kappa Delta. The top IFC fundraising chapter was Sigma Phi Epsilon, which raised $47,500 for the causes and led the entire Greek community in fundraising efforts.

Sorority and Fraternity Affairs Coordinator Liz Osborne said the OSU Greek women dedicate much time and effort to help others.

"While 'wide and wise human service' is a founding tenant for women's fraternal organizations, I'm still amazed by the level of achievement among sorority women at OSU," Osborne said. "They are truly committed to changing the world through service. Watching them work is inspirational."
