Dr. Jacque Eccles
Guest lecturer on context in human development

Jacque Eccles, a leading expert on understanding influences on human development, will deliver a lecture on understanding context in development at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, April 26, in room 235 in the business building. The talk is free and open to the public.

Eccles is McKeachie-Pintrich Dinstinguished University Professor of Psychology and Education and the director of the Achievement Research Lab at the University of Michigan. She conducts research on gender-role socialization, teacher expectancies, classroom influences on student motivation and social development in the family and school context. Much of her work focuses on the adolescent periods of life when health-compromising behaviors, like smoking, dramatically increase.

“Professor Eccles is recognized as one of the foremost experts on gender stereotyping in the schools, as well as understanding family and peer influences on development,” said Melanie Page, OSU psychology professor. “People have an amazing opportunity to come hear one of the top 10 psychological researchers in the world speak.”
