Jackson named OSU Student Employee of the Year

Oklahoma State University senior Blake Jackson of Hartshorne, Okla., has been named
the 2012 Student Employee of the Year.
A ceremony Wednesday, April 11 in the ConocoPhillips OSU Alumni Center announced
the top five student employees and honored 58 students who were nominated by their
employers both on and off campus.
The event is sponsored by the OSU Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid, OSU Career
Services, and many Stillwater businesses that provided gifts for the top five finalists.
Each finalist received a gift basket worth $200 from various businesses in the Stillwater
community, an orange business portfolio with an engraved plate, as well as special
gifts donated from OSU Undergraduate Admissions.
Jackson, an Agri-business and Environmental Studies major, was nominated by Shannon
Ferrell, Assistant Professor of Agricultural Economics. He is the son of Gary and
Teresa Jackson from Hartshorne, Okla., and is a graduate of Hartshorne Senior High
School. After graduating from OSU, Jackson plans to attend law school and concentrate
his studies in environmental and Native American law.
As the 2012 OSU Student Employee of the Year, Jackson was presented with a $500 check
from the OSU Division of Student Affairs, floor seats to a men’s basketball game from
OSU Athletics, and a framed picture.
Other finalists for the honor were Haley Baumgardner, Carrier, Okla., nominated by
Dr. Shannon Ferrell, OSU Department of Agricultural Economics; Elise Jenswold, Tulsa,
Okla., nominated by Sherry Fletcher, City of Stillwater; Gary Mayden, Blackwell, Okla.,
nominated by Norma Earp, OSU College of Arts & Sciences Technical Services; and Ashley
Robertson, Purcell, Okla., nominated by Susan Phillips, OSU CEAT Student Academic
Service.
