Heller to speak at Leadership/Entrepreneurship Seminar
Dr. Charles O. Heller, CEAT Lohmann Medalist, will present “An Engineer’s Journey Has No Limits: Becoming an Entrepreneur and Venture Capitalist was not Foreseen” on Wednesday, Nov. 7, at 3 p.m. in room 102 of the Advanced Technology Research Center. The presentation is free and open to the public.
Heller is currently president of the Annapolis Capital Group, a management consulting and investment firm. He has received many awards, including Maryland’s “Entrepreneur of the Year.”
After receiving BS and MS degrees in Civil Engineering from OSU, he worked for Douglas Aircraft Company and Bell Telephone Laboratories, and then earned a Ph.D. degree in engineering from Catholic University.
Heller served six years as an Aerospace Engineering Professor at the U.S. Navel Academy before being “bitten by the entrepreneurial bug.” He founded two software companies and was their CEO for 18 years. He then became Director of the Dingman Center for Entrepreneurship at the University of Maryland and built that Center into one of the top-ranked in the nation. He left Dingman to become general partner of Gabriel Venture Partners, a bicoastal, early-stage, venture capital fund with $260 million under management.
