Wednesday, October 24, 2012
Oklahoma State University and the Chemical Engineering department are pleased to feature Dr. Ronald L. Miller from the ColoradoSchool of Mines at the 45th annual ConocoPhilips Lecture Series. Miller continues the Lecture Series’ tradition of nationally recognized speakers who have contributed significantly to engineering education. The event takes place October 25 and 26 on the OSU campus in Stillwater.
The ConocoPhilips Lecture Series started in 1967 to celebrate and stimulate advances in engineering education. This year, Miller will address the development and status of Thermal and Transport Concepts Inventory on October 25, followed by a discussion of engineering education research on October 26. Each day’s program will began at 2 p.m.
As an expert in his field, Miller will provide diagnostic information as well as address the conceptual learning and understanding of today’s students. The discussion of research should prove to be especially useful in address the question of vitality in research to classroom teachers and students learning.
Miller is a professor of chemical engineering and Director of the Center for Engineering Education at the Colorado School of Mines. He has taught chemical engineering for 27 years and received many teaching awards. In 2011, Miller received the Lifetime Achievement Award in Chemical Engineering Pedagogy from the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) Chemical Engineering Division. In addition, he is anacclaimed researcher, who is largely published in engineering education literature.
