OSU Festival of Contemporary Music Feb. 14-16

 OSU students in the Frontiers New Music Ensemble will kick off two nights of concerts as the Department of Music hosts the first OSU Festival of Contemporary Music Feb. 14-16.

First OSU Festival of Contemporary Music set for Feb. 14-16

The Department of Music will host the first OSU Festival of Contemporary Music Feb. 14-16 featuring two free nights of concerts in the Seretean Center Concert Hall and daytime lectures from Grammy-nominated composer Gabriela Lena Frank. The festival will highlight music of renowned guest composers including Frank, Forrest Pierce, and Ken Ueno, plus OSU faculty composer Igor Karaca.

OSU students in the Frontiers New Music Ensemble will be featured at the first concert set for Wednesday, Feb. 15, at 8 p.m. Faculty of the Cortona Sessions for New Music will present the second concert featuring Mary Fukushima, flute; Gregory Oaks, clarinet; Jeffrey Loeffert, saxophone; Michael Kirkendoll, piano; Gabriela Lena Frank, piano, plus OSU faculty cellist Meredith Blecha on Thursday, Feb. 16, at 8 p.m.

Gabriela Lena Frank will also present lectures on Tuesday, Feb. 14, at 2 p.m. in the Seretean Center Concert Hall and on Wednesday, Feb. 15, at noon in the Peggy V. Helmerich Browsing Room in the Edmon Low Library.
