OSU Theatre presents “The Yellow Boat”
The OSU Theatre will present the “The Yellow Boat,” Friday (Oct. 19) at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday (Oct. 21) at 2:30 p.m. in the Jerry Davis Studio on the second floor of Gundersen Hall at OSU in Stillwater.
The play, by David Saar and directed by Sally Sparks, is a true story about the playwright’s son, Benjamin, who was born with congenital hemophilia and died in 1987 at the age of eight of AIDS-related complications from a blood transfusion. A gifted visual artist, Benjamin transformed his physical and emotional pain into a blaze of colors and shapes in his fanciful drawings.
Through his darkest moments and his most colorful, Benjamin relives the beauty of his own life. “The Yellow Boat” is a play that brings courage and hope to people of all ages and continues to inspire around the world. It has been called a “glorious affirmation” of a child's life and the strength and courage of all children. There will be a talkback following each performance.
Ticket are $5 at the door and it is suggested that you purchase tickets an hour before each performance.
