OSU transit director earns magazine’s top 40 list
Steve Spradling, the director of Oklahoma State University Parking and Transportation Services, has been selected as one of Mass Transit magazine’s Top 40 Under 40 Professionals who have made significant contributions to the public transit industry. Honorees were nominated by their peers and judged on criteria that included job commitment, industry involvement and contribution, achievement and innovation.
“We received so many qualified nominations we could easily have extended the list,” said Mass Transit Editor Leah Harnack. “It was challenging to narrow it down, but we are confident that the professionals chosen are extremely deserving of this honor, we expect they will continue to play a significant role in public transport for decades to come.”
Spradling began his transit career in the OSU Parking and Transit Services Department in 2004 and became director in 2008. Before entering the transit field, Spradling worked in the trucking industry where he gained his knowledge of logistics and vehicle maintenance. He currently serves on the board of directors of the Oklahoma Transit Association and the Stillwater Area United Way. He is a 1994 graduate of OSU, and he has served in the Oklahoma Army National Guard. Spradling has been a Stillwater resident for 22 years.
“Millions of people utilize public transportation every year, relying on it to get to work, school, social and sporting activities,” said John Hollenhorst, Mass Transit publisher. “The individuals chosen for this year’s list have been stand outs in their respective areas and show a strong passion and commitment that exemplifies the best of the best.”
Spradling and the other winners will be showcased in the September/October cover feature of Mass Transit magazine and online a www.MassTransitmag.com.
