OSU Wind Ensemble in concert
The Oklahoma State University Wind Ensemble, Dr. Joseph Missal, conductor, will present their second concert of the fall semester Thursday, Nov. 15, at 8 p.m. in the Seretean Center for the Performing Arts Concert Hall.
Composed of the finest graduate and undergraduate wind and percussion students at the university, the group is dedicated to the performance of the finest wind repertoire regardless of period or disposition of instrumental forces. The Wind Ensemble has been selected by juried audition for a second prestigious time to perform for the Japan Band Clinic in Hamamatsu City in May 2013.
Literature for Thursday's concert will begin with Fanfare to precede "La Peri" by French composer Paul Dukas and conducted by master's conducting associate Andrew Anderson.
Also on the program will be William Byrd Suite by Gordon Jacob, Passage by Scott Lindroth, and Elsa's Procession to the Cathedral from Lohengrin by Richard Wagner. The concert will conclude with two circus marches, Whip and Spur by Thomas Allen and Circus Bee by Henry Fillmore.
Admission to the concert is $8 adults/$6 for students and senior citizens. All proceeds benefit the OSU Department of Music.
