OSU Wind Ensemble Concert Tuesday

 The OSU Wind Ensemble, Dr. Joseph Missal, conductor, will present its first concert of the fall semester Tuesday, Oct. 2, at 8 p.m. in the Seretean Center for the Performing Arts Concert Hall. The program includes Festive Overture, opus 96 by Dmitri Shostakovich, Passacaglia and Fugue in c minor by Johann Sebastian Bach, First Suite in E flat, opus 28 by Gustav Holst, Arrival Platform Humlet and The Gumsucker's March by Percy Grainger, and the Finale from Concerto for Wind Ensemble by Steven Bryant.

Composed of graduate and undergraduate wind and percussion soloists at the university, the 50-member group is dedicated to performing the finest repertoire, regardless of the period or disposition of instrumental forces. Membership in the group includes musicians from Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansas, Kansas, Utah, Illinois , California, Washington, and Poland.

The OSU Wind Ensemble has been invited by juried audition to perform for a second prestigious time for the All Japan Band Clinic in Hamamatsu City in May 2013. Admission to the concert is $8 adults and $6 for students and senior citizens. All proceeds benefit the OSU Department of Music.
