Friday, July 27, 2012

The OSU/A&M Board of Regents today selected an architect for a new residence hall on the OSU Stillwater campus. KSQ Architects of Tulsa was selected to design the new 800-900 bed facility that will be located on the northwest side of campus. The new facility will provide housing following the demolition of Kerr-Drummond Hall, which is scheduled in the near future.

Regents also selected Dewberry of Tulsa as architect and Flintco LLC. of Tulsa as construction manager at risk to design and construct a new academic building on the OSU-Tulsa campus.  This facility will be used by both OSU-Tulsa and the Center for Health Sciences.  OSU-CHS is expected to dramatically increase the number of medical students in the next five years and the building will be used as classroom space to accommodate the larger medical school class sizes.  In addition, OSU-Tulsa will be able to use the space for evening classes and for faculty offices.

In other action, the board gave the approval to use Nabholz Construction as on-call construction manager for the construction and renovation of the Math Learning Success Center in the Edmon Low Library.  The $1.6 million project also includes a new fire suppression system for the fifth floor of the library and asbestos abatement.

Regents selected Studio Architecture of Oklahoma City as engineering consultant and Crossland Construction of Tulsa as construction manager at risk for the  design and construction of a new track facility in the Athletic Village area on the north side of the Stillwater campus. The new facility will take the place of the Kaye Barrett Droke Track and Field Center located on Hall of Fame, which was built in 1972 and last updated in 1986.  The location of the Droke track will be the location of the new residence hall.
