Oklahoma State University's 2011 Campaign for United Way was its most successful yet,
raising a record $222,601 to date. The campaign started last September with a goal
of $200,000.
"We increased our campaign goal by $20,000 this year,” said Sheila Johnson, Dean
of Libraries and chair of the 2011 OSU United Way Campaign. “It was ambitious, but
we were confident in the hard work of our volunteer team and in the spirit and generosity
of the OSU community."
Events included several chili cook-offs, a raffle, a bake sale, the campus-wide Wellness
Walk, a game day parking lot, annual trivia night, and a benefit night at Hideaway
Pizza where 10 percent of the sales went to United Way. The campaign wrapped up November
23.
"The events presented by our volunteer team add an element of fun and camaraderie,”
Johnson said. “It's always great to see the campus come together to support United
Way and the Stillwater community."
Stillwater Area United Way is a non-profit agency serving the needs of the Stillwater
area residents. The agency provides grants and funding to 23 social services and helping
