Regents moves forward with construction projects in Stillwater and OSU Institute of Technology Master Plan
Friday, June 15, 2012
The OSU/A&M Board of Regents selected Dewberry of Tulsa as the architect to assist
Oklahoma State University Institute of Technology in the design of a campus master
plan at its regular board meeting Friday in Tulsa.
Currently OSU-IT has no master plan in place and one is needed in order to review
existing facilities and infrastructure for possible updates, expansions and new construction.
On the Stillwater campus, Studio Architecture of Oklahoma City with PGAV of Kansas
City was selected to serve as the architect and CMS Willowbrook of Chickasha was selected
as construction manager at risk for the design and construction of a new library storage
facility. The $7.5 million facility is needed in order to free up space at the Edmon
Low Library to accommodate the growing demand for individual and group study, creative
collaboration and public programming.
The university is considering locations on the north and west sides of campus for
the storage facility. Library officials say materials will be selected for relocation
to the new building based on criteria developed by the library administration and
stakeholders.
In other action, regents selected CMS Willowbrook of Chickasha to oversee the construction
of an information technology building on the Stillwater campus. The $6 million facility
will concentrate administrative/operational IT functions in one facility. Currently
IT occupies spaces in four different buildings creating inefficiencies within the
department.
The locations are also better suited for teaching and or research since they are
located in or near the core of campus. Architectural work will be done by OSU Long
Range Facilities Planning.
