Regents select construction manager for new engineering lab, approve name change for telecommunications building
Friday, February 24, 2012
The OSU/A&M Board of Regents Friday selected Lippert Bros. of Oklahoma City as the
construction manager for a new civil engineering laboratory building to replace an
existing facility located east of Engineering South on the Stillwater campus of Oklahoma
State University.
The facility is expected to be built at the northeast corner of McElroy Road and
Willis Street in the northwest area of campus. The new laboratory will be paid through
private donations.
Approval also was given to begin the selection process for an architect and construction
manager for a new library storage facility. The $7.5 million building will free up
space in the Edmon Low Library to accommodate the growing demand for individual and
group study, creative collaboration and public programming. Library officials say
materials will be selected for relocation to the storage facility based on criteria
developed by the library administration and stakeholders.
Also Friday, the OSU/A&M Board of Regents approved the beginning of the selection
process for a construction manager to assist in the design and construction of an
information technology building to be located in the west or northwest area of the
Stillwater campus. Currently IT occupies space in several buildings across campus.
The proposed $6 million facility would concentrate administrative/operational IT
functions in one facility.
Approval also was given by the board to rename the Telecommunications Center to the
Institute for Teaching and Learning Excellence (ITLE). The new name will help avoid
confusion for those who visit or use the facility for faculty development events,
faculty support and classroom technology services.
