Robert Gates, former United States Secretary of Defense from 2006 to 2011 and ex-director of the Central Intelligence Agency, will be one of the headliners during Oklahoma State University’s 2012-13 speaker series, presented annually by the Spears School of Business along with corporate sponsors.
Gates will be the first of the three distinguished leaders in their respective fields when he visits Oklahoma to speak at the Executive Management Briefings in Oklahoma City (Oct. 23) and the Tulsa Business Forums (Oct. 24). Bob Bowlsby, the new commissioner of the Big 12 Conference, and legendary television journalist Tom Brokaw are the other featured speakers scheduled next February and April.
“We are looking forward to another outstanding year in our speaker series, and the people of Tulsa and Oklahoma City are in for a treat when Robert Gates, Bob Bowlsby and Tom Brokaw visit with us,” said Larry Crosby, dean of the Spears School of Business.
Each year, these speaker series showcase prominent business, political and world leaders, authors and policymakers. Both the Executive Management Briefings and theTulsa Business Forums are coordinated by the Center for Executive and Professional Development at OSU.
“Our goal at the Spears School is to inspire the student and everyone to dream big, stretch their leadership potential, transform organizations and make a difference in the world,” Crosby said. “These three leaders in the world of politics, college athletics and the media are perfect examples of how one person can make a difference. The Spears School of Business is proud to be able to bring each of them to Oklahoma to share their experiences and knowledge with us. You won’t want to miss any of the three.”
