Service CORD awarded to graduates

Tuesday, May 15, 2012

Oklahoma State University Service-Learning Volunteer Center awarded 28 students with an Honor CORD that was worn by the students at graduation.

Joyce Montgomery, OSU Service-Learning Volunteer Center Coordinator, said the 2012 graduates have been dedicated to serving the community and making a difference through their service.

"The OSU students receiving this spring, 2012 Honor CORD illuminate the value of innovation and collaboration with community partners in solving community problems," Montgomery said.

This CORD is awarded to undergraduate students who have served 400 hours of community service and to graduate student who have served at least 300 hours of community service throughout their time at OSU. This cord symbolizes the student's commitment to service.

Sunil Lakkakula, OSU Service-Learning Volunteer Center Graduate Assistant, said the SLVC is proud to award 28 students with Honor CORDS.

"We take great pride in awarding the orange CORD for our students' commitment to community service and become a part of their celebration as they graduate from Oklahoma State University," Lakkakula said.
