The college of Engineering, Architecture and Technology at Oklahoma State University has awarded Mallory Hosey of Heath, Texas, the W.W. Allen Boys & Girls Club Scholarship. Recognized for being the one of its kind in terms of substantial monetary value and enrichment activities, Hosey becomes part of an elite group of scholars.
This scholarship program was designed to benefit a person who was an active member of a Boys & Girls Club while in high school, and who wishes to pursue educational goals in the field of engineering. This is an OSU exclusive scholarship program, awarding one new student each year $15,000 annually toward a bachelor’s degree in engineering.
Hosey is a freshman at OSU studying architectural engineering. She has been active with the Rockwall County Boys and Girls Club for many years, while maintaining an impressive academic and leadership record.
“The Boys & Girls Club inspires children of all ages to pursue their dreams,” said Hosey. “Working in the Boys & Girls Club has been very rewarding. I adore kids and I strive to be a positive example.”
Funding for the Scholarship comes from a generous donation by W. Wayne Allen, retired CEO and Chairman of the Phillips Petroleum Company. Allen was once a member of the Boys & Girls Club of Ft. Smith, Arkansas, and former National Advisory Board member. He credits the Boys & Girls Club with providing him an unusual opportunity for personal growth.
In addition to providing this premier scholarship, the program is intended to accelerate professional and leadership development, stimulate intellectual growth, develop career awareness and cultural perspectives, while also enhancing interpersonal skills.
Hosey hopes to design a world famous structure in the future, and eventually own and operate an architectural firm.
