SODA, the Sexual Orientation Diversity Association at OSU, launched its own “It Gets Better-OSU” video to reach out to the GLBT community and encourage a safe environment for everyone on campus and in the Stillwater community.
“A person should never feel alone or unwanted because of his or her sexuality,” Kayla Ragan, SODA historian, said. “By making an ‘It Gets Better’ video of our own, SODA is reaching out to the sexual minorities in Stillwater and all over Oklahoma to offer protection and support.”
The “It Gets Better” project is a specific campaign to inspire young GLBT people to push through the struggles they may face and look forward to a happy, positive future.
Syndicated columnist and author Dan Savage created the project in September 2010 in
response to several gay teen suicides. The video reached millions of people through
YouTube and led to the development of the “It Gets Better” campaign.
