Wednesday, October 10, 2012
Organizers of the first-ever TEDxOStateU at Oklahoma State University today announcedfive of the 20 speakers and performers that will be featured at the November event. In addition to Boone Pickens – first announced in early August – the list includes architect Rand Elliott, former naval aviator Brian “Bru” Brurud, digital media entrepreneur Piyush Patel, geothermal heating expert Jim Bose and Ubuntu Youth founder Alyssa Peterson.
TEDxOStateU, an independently organized TEDx event, licensed by TED, is coming to the OSU’s Stillwater campus on November 1. The event will take place in the Seretean Center Concert Hall from 1-5:30 p.m. centered on the theme “IGNITE.”
“We have an outstanding group of individuals who have agreed to participate in TEDxOStateU,” said OSU President Burns Hargis. “Among other topics, our program will cover sustainability issues and important research being done today that will impact society in the decades to come. I believe our audience will enjoy hearing from these individuals who are truly experts in their field.
”The program is designed to engage the audience using a more fast-paced format. In addition to adding national TEDTalks videos, there will be at least two musical performances, and the entire program will be live streamed through the newly-launched OSTATE.TV. There will be a 30-minute break about halfway through the event.
