Students earn scholarships
Two Oklahoma State University students have been selected as recipients of the 2012 Southwest Association of Student Assistance Programs Scholarship, which recognizes those who demonstrate leadership potential at school and in their communities. Kristen Enyart, a microbiology junior from Wyandotte, Okla., and Cynthia Bejar, a sociology sophomore from Mustang, Okla., were named among the 2012 scholarship recipients in a five state region that includes Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas.
The winners are presented with the scholarship for the fall semester and receive recognition as outstanding TRiO students in the southwest region. TRiO is a group of educational opportunity programs, funded by the Department of Education. Students were asked to write an essay describing TRiO’s influence in their academic pursuit and receive recommendations from TRiO personnel as well as an academic or community member to qualify for scholarship entry.
TRIO includes eight programs targeted to serve individuals from middle school through college. The TRiO programs at OSU are coordinated by the Division of Institutional Diversity.
