Tulsa art exhibit has OSU connections

Artwork by OSU faculty Chris Ramsay and Brandon Reese as well as alumna Anita Fields is currently on display at the “Crafting Ritual & Identity: Oklahoma Invitation Exhibition,” which runs through Aug. 23 in Tulsa. The exhibit, which includes a total of 14 artists from Oklahoma, is located at Living Art at 307 E. Brady in Tulsa. It is sponsored by the Brady Craft Alliance, headed by OSU alumna Emily Kern.

“Crafting Ritual & Identity” is a companion show to the Sherwin Miller Jewish Museum of Art’s international traveling exhibit about Jewish ritual entitled A Stitch in Jewish Time. Curated by Karen York, A Stitch in Jewish Time: Provocative Textiles (June 3-August 24) features internationally acclaimed contemporary fiber artists who delve into the understanding of Jewish history, experience and values. Crafting Ritual and Identity highlights Oklahoma artists’ perspective on ritual and identity, and what it means to be from Oklahoma.

BCA is dedicated to "Encouraging the Art of Craft" and has already brought renowned gallerist Jane Sauer to Tulsa for educational programs, exhibited Native American Margaret Roach Wheeler's exquisite woven pieces in a fashion show, and mounted the biannual VisionMakers exhibition that highlights the fine craft artists we have right here in Oklahoma.
