Many universities are currently implementing a medical physics program into their academic catalog due to the growing need for medical physicists. Brown’s research results show that an educational digital radiography system, which provides optimal resolution, can be produced from cheap (or free) used/surplus items that fit the budgets of most academic physics departments. The design and construction of such a system has also proved to be a great exercise for students learning the basics concepts of digital medical imaging systems.
Brown will receive his master’s degree in medical physics this summer. He received a bachelor’s degree in physics from Henderson State University in Arkadelphia, Ark.
