Graduate student receives prestigious award

Jessica J. Lay, a graduate student at Oklahoma State University, was recently awarded the 2013 Robert E. Stewart Engineering- Humanities Award.

Lay received the honor at the 2013 American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers Annual International Meeting recently held in Kansas City, Missouri. She has been recognized for her accomplishments in bridging Engineering and the Humanities through leadership, creativity, and service.

As a research assistant in the biosystems and agricultural engineering department at OSU, Lay has not only been conducting research in her home state of Oklahoma, but also in Sierra Leone, West Africa.  Her research primarily focuses on the first-flush phenomena in rainwater in addition to drilling two water wells abroad.
