Eight Day On-Air Fundraiser Continues Through April 11

KOSU is asking listeners to invest in the station’s unique dimension of sound and substance during its eight-day fundraiser, through Thursday, April 11th. The Pledge Drive for the Public Radio Zone seeks to raise $215-thousand from 2,000 contributors in support of KOSU’s mission to create community through uniquely local and distinctly global news and cultural content.

“KOSU is the one media destination that provides thousands of listeners with unique experiences each and every day,” said Kelly Burley, KOSU Director. “The sound-rich content that KOSU delivers in the public radio zone is made possible because listeners and businesses are willing to generously support it.”

Contribution dollars are put to work in many ways at KOSU, amplifying the station’s mission to create community through content and content through the community. Because listeners are willing to give to KOSU, the station is able to be uniquely local and distinctly global, from the State Capitol Bureau and State Impact reports to original music from The Spy, such as the Red Dirt Radio Hour, the Oklahoma Rock Show and Millions Now Listening; from NPR’s unparalleled international news coverage through its 17 foreign bureaus to innovative national programs such as This American Life, Radiolab and The Moth. Listener support also allows KOSU to embrace technology to deliver content across multiple media platforms and pursue community initiatives such as On Tap, the station’s monthly face-to-face conversation about important issues in our state.

“When it comes to content and context, public radio stands alone in today’s media landscape because listener support allows us to pursue our mission of purpose rather than profit,” Burley said. “We hope listeners will get in the public radio zone and support us during the fundraiser to help sustain and grow our media services.”

During membership drive, KOSU will hold periodic drawings for tickets to attend a live movie theater edition of NPR’s popular news quiz comedy show Wait, Wait, Don’t Tell Me, which will be held in May in Oklahoma City and Tulsa. The station will also draw for tickets to Oklahoma State University’s popular Wine Forum. To pledge, visit kosu.org and click on contribute or call 1-800-228-4678.
